Sara Luna

I am a fiber artist currently living and creating in Salt Lake City, UT, though I was born in Chile in 1991 and carry the vibrant culture and traditions of my homeland with me in my work. My artistic journey began with my pursuit of degrees in visual arts and digital illustration, which laid the foundation for my exploration into the world of fiber art.
In 2018, I made the exciting move to Salt Lake City, Utah, embarking on a full-time career as an artist. Since then, my artistic endeavors have taken me to numerous art shows, festivals, and secured representation in prestigious galleries.
While my early career involved experimenting with mediums such as sculpture, painting, and digital tools, I eventually discovered my true calling in the intricate world of fiber arts.Initially drawn to the punch needle technique, I found myself on a fascinating journey that led me from using acrylic yarn to eventually dyeing my own yarn. The process evolved further as I delved into spinning and dyeing my unique yarn, adding a personal touch to every creation.
Over the years, my focus shifted from punch needle to the captivating realms of weaving and cross-stitching. Today, I exclusively use hand-spun yarn, crafted meticulously by my own hands. This personalized approach not only adds authenticity to my work but also reflects my deep connection to the artistic process. As I continue to weave my narrative through fibers and colors, each creation tells a story of my artistic evolution and the cultural influences that shape my identity. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of art, and I am excited to share my creations with the world.I have shown my work at the Springville Museum, Bountiful Davis Art Center, and one of my pieces was purchased by the state of Utah to be part of the Alice Merril Horne Art collection.
